This division prosecutes violations of criminal traffic laws, criminal violations of county and municipal ordinances and misdemeanor offenses. A misdemeanor offense is defined by Florida law as offenses punishable by a maximum sentence of incarceration of up to one year in county jail.

Misdemeanor Intervention Program(MIP): MIP is a diversionary program for first time offenders. A defendant can only enter MIP with the consent of the Office of the State Attorney. Defense counsel should contact the assigned Assistant State Attorney to determine eligibility for their client. The MIP application can be downloaded here:

Applications for Certificates of Eligibility (Expunction):

Effective June 1, 2009, the State Attorney’s Office will no longer return Applications for Certificates of Eligibility by U.S. mail unless a self-addressed, stamped envelope is provided. If no self-addressed, stamped envelope is provided, the completed Applications will be available for pick up on the first floor of the State Attorney’s Office. The Application may be picked up by the party submitting the Application. Please allow the State Attorney’s Office at least two weeks to complete Part B of the Application.
